PRODUCT INFORMATION

1. What is the Holmes® Smart Humidifier with Wemo®, F7C046?

The Holmes® Smart Humidifier with Wemo®, F7C046 is the perfect solution to managing and maintaining your home’s humidity while you’re away at work, running errands, or even while on vacation.  It comes with the Wemo App, which lets you schedule a specific day and time for the humidifier to operate and quickly check and set the humidity level directly from your smartphone or tablet.

2. Why do I need a humidifier?

Low humidity can dry out mucous membranes such as the lining of the nose and throat, and can cause respiratory distress.  It can also affect wooden furniture, causing shrinkage and loose joints, or cracking of finishes.  Books, papers, and artworks may shrink or warp and become brittle in very low humidity.  With the humidifier’s pure evaporative cool mist technology, you can set the right level of humidity keeping your home comfortable.

3. What are included in the Holmes Smart Humidifier package?

The package includes:
  • Holmes Smart Humidifier with Wemo
  • Two wick filters (HWF80-U)
  • 4-gallon tank
  • User manual
4. What is the warranty period of the Holmes Smart Humidifier?

The humidifier has a 3-year hardware warranty.

5. Where can I find the MAC address of my Holmes Smart Humidifier?

The MAC address or Device MAC address is printed on the label at the back of the device.

6. What is the ideal humidity level for my house?

A humidity level below 20 percent can be unhealthy and uncomfortable.  The recommended humidity level is between 40-50 percent.

7. How long will the humidifier run before I need to refill the tanks?

The Smart Humidifier’s run time depends on your usage pattern.  Approximately, the device can run up to 60 hours on Minimum setting without needing to refill the tanks.

8. What type of water should I use in my Holmes Smart Humidifier?

Always fill your Holmes Smart Humidifier with tap water.  However, if your tap water is high in mineral content, it is recommended to use distilled or filtered water to extend the life of the filter and support optimal performance.

SPECIAL FEATURES

1. What are the components of the Holmes Smart Humidifier?

The humidifier has the following components:
  • Control Panel
  • Left Water Tank Door
  • Right Water Tank Door
  • Filter Door (Front)
  • Filter Door (Rear)

2. What is the tank capacity of the humidifier?

The Holmes Smart Humidifier has a 4-gallon tank capacity covering up to 2500 sq ft.  Approximately, the humidifier can run up to 60 hours on Minimum without needing to refill the tanks.  It includes two wick filters to trap impurities that may be present in your water, ensuring your moisturized air is pure.

3. Does the Holmes Smart Humidifier work with the rest of the Wemo family?

Yes.  The humidifier uses the same Wemo App as the other Wemo Devices.

4. How does the Cool Mist Evaporative Humidification work?

The Cool Mist Evaporative Humidification is a smart feature that draws air through the air intake grill areas.  The fan draws the water through the moisture laden wick filters.  This process makes the water droplet size so small that it is not visible to the naked eye.  This process is an effective means of adding moisture to dry air in your home.

5. How do I turn on the Remote Access capability?

Launch the Wemo App, select the Gear icon from the top-right hand side of the screen.  Look for Remote Access near the top of the list and tap the arrow next to it.  Tap Enable Remote Access and then tap OK.

SETUP

1. What mobile devices are compatible with the Holmes Smart Humidifier?

The Holmes Smart Humidifier is compatible with Apple®
devices running on iOS 9.0 and higher and Android™ (4.4 and higher) devices.

2. How do I install the humidifier?

To begin using the humidifier, plug it into any standard outlet and download the Wemo App from the Google Play™ Store, the App Store®, or the Amazon Appstore to your smartphone or tablet.  The app keeps you connected to your humidifier anywhere you are over Wi-Fi, 3G, or 4G.

3. What is the default Wi-Fi name (SSID) of the Holmes Smart Humidifier?

The default Wi-Fi name of the device is WeMo.humidifier.XYZ, where XYZ is the last three characters of the product’s serial number.  In some cases, the Wi-Fi name might be too long to fit on screen and will be shortened and listed as Wemo humidifier….

4. Does Holmes Smart Humidifier require an internet connection to work?

No.  Internet connection is only required if you want to use a smartphone or tablet to access the device from outside the local Wi-Fi.  In order to set up and manage the humidifier, you will need a wireless router.  So long as your router is ON and the humidifier is connected to the Wi-Fi, it will have full functionality.

5. Do I need to be near Wemo Holmes Smart Humidifier when I perform setup?

Until the device is up and running, it’s best to have the smart device running the Wemo App and the humidifier close to each other.  For best results, be in the same room as the humidifier.

6. I’ve completed setup, so why won’t my Wemo Holmes Smart Humidifier App connect?

Sometimes, the Wemo App forgets and connects to your home Wi-Fi instead of the Wemo enabled device’s Wi-Fi.  Open Settings> Wi-Fi connectivity, manually connect to Holmes Smart Humidifier and reopen the App.

TROUBLESHOOTING

1. Why am I not seeing the Holmes Smart Humidifier in my list of available Wi-Fi?

If the Smart Humidifier is plugged in, it should appear in the list.  Sometimes, it can take a minute or so for the Smart Humidifier and your router to find each other.  Wait for about 90 seconds.  If the humidifier has not appeared still, unplug the unit and then plug in again, and wait for another 90 seconds.

2. What should I do if the humidifier’s plug won’t fit into the electrical outlet?

The humidifier has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other).  To reduce the risk of electric shock, this plug is intended to fit in a polarized outlet only one way.  If the plug does not fit fully into the outlet, reverse the plug.  If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician to install the proper outlet.

3. Why does the humidifier make so much noise?

The operation of the Holmes Smart Humidifier produces a fan-like noise.  Note that lower fan speed will produce a lower noise, but also a lower level of humidity output.  There are several ways to reduce the noise, including making sure the filters are installed correctly, all doors on the unit are fully closed, and keeping the bottom tray clean before filling the tanks.  Make sure that the unit does not vibrate against the floor, wall, or a nearby object.

4. Why is my Holmes Smart Humidifier fan cycling?

When you set the humidistat to a desired level, the humidifier's fan would cycle OFF once the desired humidity is achieved.  The humidifier will cycle ON again once the humidity level has lowered.
