How to turn ON or OFF the built-in microphone on the Belkin SOUNDFORM ELITE G1S0002

As technology advances and virtual assistants become more popular, more and more devices are always ON and always listening.  The Belkin SOUNDFORM™ ELITE Hi-Fi Smart Speaker + Wireless Charger, G1S0002 features Amazon Alexa which is always listening and waiting to help.  If you want your speaker to stop from listening, this article will guide you on how to do this.

The Belkin SOUNDFORM ELITE G1S0002 features a set of touch-sensitive controls on top of the speaker between the two built-in microphones.  These allow you to control different functions of your speaker.  
 
The Belkin SOUNDFORM ELITE G1S0002 also has a set of four status lights on the front of the speaker.  These lights provide status information on the speaker such as volume level and microphone status.  With regard to the microphone, the status lights are as follows:
 
Light statusDescription
Lights are OFFThe speaker is operating normally, and the microphones are turned ON.
All four lights are redThe microphones are turned OFF.  The speaker is unable to hear your voice commands.
 
Turn the microphone OFF (Mute)

Tap once on the Microphone button which is the last button on the right to turn OFF the microphone capabilities of your speaker.

The four lights on the front of the speaker will illuminate red.  

NOTE:  When muting the microphone on your Belkin SOUNDFORM ELITE G1S0002, it will remain muted until it is unmuted by pressing the Microphone button again on the speaker or if the speaker is restarted.

Turn the microphone ON (Unmute)

To turn ON the microphone capabilities of your speaker, tap again on the Microphone button.  The four lights on the front of the speaker will turn OFF.
