Google Assistant enables both Android and iOS users to ask a range of questions using mobile devices without having to physically type anything or perform other things such as controlling their home automation devices. These home automation tools include the following Wemo® devices:
- Wemo Light Switch v1 and v2
- Wemo Switch and Motion
- Wemo 3-Way Light Switch
- Wemo Mini v1 and v2
- Wemo Link
- Wemo Dimmer
- Wemo WiFi Smart Plug
Before you begin, take note of the following:
- To link your Google Assistant with your Wemo devices, you need to make sure that your Wemo devices are working and are associated to your Wemo Account. To learn how to create a Wemo Account, click here.
- If you have an iOS device, make sure to install the Google Assistant app on your phone.

Step 1: Open the Google Assistant app on your phone.

Step 2: Tap your profile on the upper right-hand corner of the app.

Step 3: Go to the Assistant tab and tap Home control.

Step 4: Under Home control, tap the + sign on the lower right-hand corner of the app.

Step 5: Tap the Search icon and type in "Wemo".

Step 6: Select WeMo from the search results.

Step 7: Enter your Wemo Account login credentials then tap Next.


Step 8: The app will then show the Wemo devices that are linked to your account. Tap the Pencil icon to assign a room for the Wemo device.

NOTE: If you have multiple Wemo devices, tap on each device and assign a room for each.

Step 9: After assigning each Wemo device to a room, tap DONE.

A list of your linked Wemo devices should now show up under the Home control tab.

You may now start using Google Assistant to control your Wemo devices.
Using the Google Assistant app on your Android devices
Step 1: On your home screen, tap the Google Assistant icon.

Step 2: Tap the Explorer or Compass icon.

Step 3: Tap your profile on the upper right-hand corner of the app and then tap Settings.

Step 4: Go to the Assistant tab and tap Home control.

Step 5: Under Home control, tap the + sign on the lower right-hand corner of the app.

Step 6: Tap the Search icon and type in "Wemo".

Step 7: Select WeMo from the search result.

Step 8: Enter your Wemo Account login credentials then tap Next.


Step 9: The app will then show the Wemo devices that are linked to your account. Tap the Pencil icon to assign a room for the Wemo device.

Step 10: After assigning each Wemo device to a room, tap DONE.

Step 11: It will then show the available commands that you can use to control your Wemo devices. Tap the Got it button below to complete the setup.

If you encounter issues when using Google Assistant after creating your Wemo Account, you need to unlink your Wemo device first from Google Assistant. To do this, follow the steps below:
Step 1: Open Google Assistant, tap your profile on the upper right-hand corner of the app and select Settings.

Step 2: Go to the Assistant tab and tap Home control.

Step 3: Under Home control, tap the + sign on the lower right-hand corner of the app.

Step 4: Tap WeMo under Linked services and select Unlink account.


Step 5: Tap UNLINK to confirm the action.
