Setting up high resolution on an external monitor

The F5U273 is a High Speed Docking Station.  It allows you to connect more than one (1) monitor at a time, for a superior, digital video experience.  This article will provide you instructions on how to set up high resolution on your external monitor.

In this scenario, neither Windows nor the F5U273 High Speed Docking Station's software allows you to get 1600x1200 resolution even if the monitor supports it.  This could mean that Windows does not recognize the external monitor as capable of the said resolution.  Follow the instructions below on how to resolve this issue.
 

Step 1:
Click the Pearl button, enter device manager on the search text box, then press Enter on your keyboard.

Step 2:
Click Device Manager.

Step 3:
On the Device Manager window, expand Monitors.

Step 4:
Right-click the name of your monitor and click the Update Driver Software... option.

Step 5:
On the Update Driver Software window, select Browse my computer for driver software.

Step 6:
Select Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer and then click Next button.

Step 7:
Uncheck the Show compatible hardware checkbox to filter unnecessary drivers then select Super VGA 1600x1200.

Step 8:
A window will appear informing you that you have successfully updated the driver software of your external monitor.  Click Close.

Step 9:
Restart the external monitor.


You should now get 1600x1200 resolution on your external monitor.
