Troubleshooting speakers, headphones and / or microphones not working with the Belkin F4U095

You may experience not being able to get sound from connected speakers, headphones, and / or microphones when connected to the Belkin Thunderbolt™ 3 Express Dock HD with 2.6 ft / 0.8 m Cable, F4U095.  The following troubleshooting steps have been found to resolve any connectivity issues with speakers, headphones and microphones on your MacBook Pro®.

Step 1:
Confirm that the speakers / headphones are working or turned ON.  For a microphone, make sure it is only connected to the front 3.5 mm port.

NOTE:  The dock does not differentiate between the front and rear 3.5 mm ports, so if speakers and headphones are connected to them and the dock is set up properly, it will output to both.

Step 2:
On your MacBook Pro, select System Preferences and then click on Sound.

Step 3:
Check for each tab (Sound Effects, Output, and Input) that USB audio CODEC is selected / highlighted.  If highlighted on Internal Speakers or Internal Microphone, then it will output or input from the MacBook Pro instead of the dock.

Step 4:
Adjust the volume for the Input and Output to the desired levels.

If the sound is set to USB audio CODEC and you are
still not getting any sound out of your connected speakers / headphones / microphone, then do the following:

Step 1:
Disconnect the dock from the MacBook Pro.

Step 2:
Shut down the MacBook Pro.

Step 3:
Disconnect the peripherals from the dock.

Step 4:
Disconnect the power supply from the dock.

Step 5:
Reconnect the power supply to the dock.

Step 6:
Reconnect the peripherals to the dock.

Step 7:
Reconnect the Belkin F4U095 cable from the dock to the MacBook Pro.

Step 8:
Turn the MacBook Pro back ON.
