Setting up a wired connection with the Playstation®3 and the Belkin router

Connecting your PlayStation®3 or PS3™ to the Internet allows you to gain access to online services such as the PlayStation® Network and PlayStation® Store, as well as access shared media files and devices in your network.
 
This article will help you set up a wired connection between your PS3™ and Belkin router.  If you wish to connect your console to the wireless network, click here.
 
NOTE:  This article assumes that you are using a North American PS3™.  If you're using an Asian version, the confirm (X) and cancel (O) buttons' functionality may be reversed.

Step 1:
Connect the PS3™ to the router by plugging in one end of the Ethernet cable into an available Ethernet port on the router and the other end into the back of the PS3™.

Step 2:
Power ON your PlayStation®3 and then go to Settings > Network Settings.

Step 3:
Scroll down to Internet Connection Settings and press the X button on the controller.

NOTE:  If you are currently connected to the wireless network, you may receive the following message.  Select Yes and then press X.

Step 4:
On the Select a setting method screen, select Easy then press X.

Step 5:
Select Automatic under IP Address Setting then press X from your D-pad.

Step 6:
Select Do Not Set then press X.

Step 7:
Select Automatic under DNS Setting then press X.

Step 8:
Under MTU, select Automatic then press X.

Step 9:
Select Do Not Use under Proxy Server then press X.

Step 10:
Under UPnP, select Enable then press X.

Step 11:
On the Settings List, press X to save the settings.

Step 12:
Once the Save completed screen appears, press X to test the connection.

You will see the result of your connection test on a similar screen as below.

If the test fails, make sure that you have properly connected both the Ethernet cable's ends to the console and the router.
