The UK Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Regulations 2013 mandate the responsible handling of electrical and electronic waste (WEEE). Producers including manufacturers, sellers and distributors, are required to establish systems for customers purchasing new electrical equipment to recycle their old items. In line with these regulations, we have supported the national network of WEEE recycling centers established by local authorities.
Many electrical items can be repaired or recycled, benefiting natural resources and the environment. Failing to recycle results in electrical equipment ending up in landfills, posing risks of hazardous substance leakage, soil and water contamination, and harm to wildlife and human health.
To facilitate recycling awareness, old electrical equipment now features a crossed-out wheeled bin symbol. Please refrain from disposing of any electrical equipment, including those with this symbol, in regular bins. Locate your nearest drop-off point for safe electronics disposal.
As an electronic device producer, Belkin finances the treatment and recycling of waste through designated collection points as per local requirements. The WEEE Directive aims to minimize unsorted disposal of WEEE and enhance the environmental performance of those involved in the electronic equipment life cycle.
Certain electrical and electronic equipment (EEE) may contain hazardous substances and require environmentally acceptable disposal, as ensured by the WEEE Directive. Private households can return their WEEE to collection facilities free of charge. Producers are responsible for financing the collection, treatment, recovery, and disposal of WEEE from private households.
Belkin fulfills its obligations under the WEEE Directive through membership in a government-approved Producer Compliance Scheme, WasteCare, and by offering customers its Consumer Recycling program for WEEE collection, treatment, recovery, and disposal.
