Wi-Fi Protected Setup™ (WPS) is a feature that lets you easily connect WPS-supported client devices to your router wirelessly.  It is also a method for establishing a network in a secure and simple manner.
 
IMPORTANT:  The device you want to connect must support WPS.  If your device does not support WPS, you can still set up a secure network through your router’s web-based setup page.  To learn how to do this, click here.

To set up your network using WPS, follow the steps below:

NOTE:  It is recommended to use a wired computer when accessing the router’s web-based setup page.

Step 1:
Launch a web browser to open your router’s web-based setup page.  Enter the router’s IP address in the Address bar.
 
NOTE:  192.168.2.1 is the default IP address of Belkin routers.

Click Login.

Enter your router’s Password if you have one.  Otherwise, leave the field blank and click Submit.

By default, WPS is enabled.  There are two methods to connect a wireless computer using WPS.   Click the links below to know how:

Enter the PIN of your adapter in the Enter Client Device PIN box and click Enroll.

There are several reasons why you are experiencing wired internet disconnections.  This article will give you options on what you can do to check your connection.

Ping test

Ping is a commonly used tool when troubleshooting communication problems on a network.  It determines whether information can be sent from your router to another location and back again, and how long it takes to do so.  You can also specify the number of times the information is sent.

Step 1:
Access the command prompt.  Follow the instructions below according to your Operating System (OS):
 
\n\n
For Windows® 10 - Right-click on the Windows \"User-added key then select Run, and enter "cmd" then click OK.

For Windows 8/8.1 - Press the Windows \"User-added key then enter “cmd” and select Command Prompt to open the application.

For Windows 7 - Click the Pearl \"User-added button > enter “cmd” > press [Enter].

For macOS® - Click the Applications > Utilities > Terminal.

Step 2:
Perform a ping test.  Enter “ping google.com" and press [Enter].  Take note of the results.

For Windows:

You will see the Ping Statistics in the Command Prompt window.  If your computer received replies and no lost packets, it means that it is connected to the internet.  But, if it received no replies and had complete packet loss, it means your computer is NOT connected to the internet.

For macOS:

You will see the Ping Statistics in the Terminal window.  Your computer is connected to the internet if the results indicate repeating lines that show the bytes that were sent and the time it took, plus the statistics of total packets received and transmitted with very minimal to no packet loss.

However, if there is no response from the server and the statistics of total packets indicate no transmission with complete packet loss, then your computer is NOT connected to the internet.

Cable connections on the router

The intermittent connection on the router might be caused by the cables not properly connected to it.  Check the indicator lights to signify its connectivity.  If the light is not lit, try using another ethernet cable or check if the cable ends are connected securely.  ​

Modem to computer connection

Make sure you have an active internet connection from the modem.  If your computer is unable to go online when directly connected to the modem, try powercycling the modem and computer.  If the computer is still unable to go online, contact your Internet Service Provider (ISP).

Router reset and reconfiguration

If all computers cannot go online and you have internet connection when connected to the modem, you may need to reset and reconfigure your router.  Resetting the router will restore the device to its default factory settings and you will be able to reconfigure it again.  For instructions on how to manually set up a Belkin router, click here.  To set up a Belkin router using the Dashboard, click here.

Wireless access can be filtered by using the Media Access Control (MAC) addresses of wireless devices transmitting within your wireless network.  You can either permit or prevent specific wireless computers and devices to access your Wi-Fi.  This article will guide you on how to set up a Wireless MAC Filter, permitting or preventing access to your wireless network.

IMPORTANT:  When you enable this feature, you must enter the MAC address of each client device on your network to allow network access to each.  Ensure the following before you set up the MAC address filter feature:\n\n\n\n


To set up MAC filtering, follow the steps below:

Step 1:
Open a web browser such as Google Chrome™, Mozilla Firefox®, Internet Explorer® or Safari®.

Step 2:
Type http://router in the web browser's address bar and press [Enter].

NOTE:  If the page does not load, try visiting http://192.168.2.1 to see the router homepage.  If you have changed the IP address of your router, click here to check.

Under the Firewall section, click MAC Address Filtering.

Tick the box next to Enable MAC Address Filtering and enter the MAC address of each device that you want to allow or prevent access to your network.
