Introduced in iOS 13, the Optimized Battery Charging feature is a great way to help maximize your battery's capability and improve its lifespan.  Optimized Battery Charging does this by using machine learning to understand your usage habits.  This includes active using of the phone, idle time, and charging time.  Your phone learns when it will be sitting connected to a charge for a long period of time and will delay charging past 80% until it knows you will be needing a fully charged phone.

Your phone will let you know that Optimized Battery Charging is active by displaying a notification on the lock screen telling you when you can expect your phone to be fully charged.  If you want your phone charged faster, touch and hold on the notification then tap on Charge Now to temporarily disable the feature.

IMPORTANT:  Some location settings must also be enabled to activate Optimized Battery Charging.  These include Location Services, System Customization, and Significant Locations.

To do this, place the back of your phone on top of the charger and the built-in magnet will automatically align it.

To do this, carefully twist or slide your phone away from the charger.

4.  How many devices can the Belkin BPD001 charge at the same time?

The Belkin BPD001 can charge up to two devices at the same time.  This means you can charge up to two devices via USB or one device via USB and one wireless device.

NOTE:  Charging three devices at the same time is not recommended.

5.  How is the charging power distributed between two devices charging at the same time when one is charging via USB and the other is charging wirelessly?

The wireless charging on the Belkin BPD001 can provide up to 7.5W power output to your wireless charging capable device.  When simultaneously charging devices using the wireless charging feature and a USB-A or USB-C port, the Belkin BPD001 can provide up to 15W shared between the two devices. 

The Belkin BPD001 prioritizes wireless charging over the USB ports.  This means that of the 15W maximum output, the wireless device will take up to 7.5W first and whatever is left of the 15W will be provided to the USB ports.

In September 2023, Apple® released their iPhone® 15 series of phones. These new models replaced the proprietary Lightning® port with a USB-C® port. This port can not only charge and sync your iPhone but now allows you to charge your low-power devices such as your Apple Watch® and AirPods® directly from your phone while on the go. 

Since this new USB-C port allows for power to flow in both directions (into the phone and out to a connected device), you may experience unexpected charging behavior when using a USB-C-enabled portable battery pack. Not all USB-C-enabled portable battery packs support charging devices from their USB-C ports. These devices may only support charging the battery back itself through its USB-C port and will instead charge connected devices using a USB-A port.

If your USB-C-enabled portable battery pack does not support device charging through the USB-C port, you may experience one of the following behaviors:

How do I tell if my Belkin Battery Pack supports device charging over USB-C?
