Nostromo n50 SpeedPad - Quote: "With its high level of programmability, the SpeedPad provides a lot of power for a mere game controller. I really enjoyed playing with it. But I also enjoyed using it with other applications such as my graphics and music sequencing programs. The programmable keyboard make access to software functions (even other than games) much easier than using a standard computer keyboard. Whether for gaming or other tasks, the SpeedPad has found a permanent place on my computer desktop."

Nostromo n50 SpeedPad
- Quote: "It really comes across as a device that doesn't scare you with complexity… Simplicity seems to be key with the n50… I got the experience of making my own profile (and) it was easy. Normally I am not a big fan of the included software that usually comes with controllers. I view them as cumbersome, and just another thing that I have to tweak to get to work. But as I said before the n50 is simple, and that carries over to its profile creation software."

The wrist rest is wide enough for large hands and the appropriate angle is built into the board, no adjustment is necessary or possible. 5-Port Network Switch and 4-Port Router - Quote: "The new 5-Port Network Switch sells for $78 and lets you share files and a regular Internet connection (often called a "dial-up" connection) between five computers. Once you have installed such a network switch, all the computers can use the same peripherals: printers, scanners, backup drives, etc. This particular device is nice-looking, with numbered lights that let you see who is connected at a glance. Moving up in price to $138 list ($119 at discounters) gets Belkin's 4-Port Gateway Router, which connects one less computer but lets everyone share a high-speed DSL or Cable modem line. Now we're talking business, as they say. You still have the file and peripheral sharing features you have with any network. An additional feature with this router is a firewall that protects the network from unauthorized access. A particularly nice feature of Belkin products is a lifetime warranty and lifetime free tech support."

Quote:"The F5D5000 compliments Belkin's other networking products quite nicely. It exhibits solid performance, great documentation, simple installation on Windows platforms and a competitive price-point. 4-port SOHO Series KVM Switch -
Quote:"I've been looking for a KVM (keyboard-video-mouse) controller to link up four networked multimedia computers for a while, and at Comdex I finally found one that controls both audio and video for four computers from a single workstation. It's made by Belkin, and is called the OmniView SOHO Series 4-Port. The $179.95 OmniView handles both PS/2 and USB peripherals, and supports video up to 2048x1536 resolution at 85 Hz. Belkin told me it's working on a model that should be available around next March that supports dual-headed monitor displays. The OmniView has built-in cable management and draws its power off the keyboard. It looks great, too."

Quote: "For me to use a product it must be truly useful and well able to survive use at home and at work. The Sync Cable now allows me to: Sync the iPAQ with the office PC without taking the cradle in to work.
Forget about power level worries. I can now use the backlight all day and if needed can charge the iPAQ in the car during the lunch break. Access the net from the car using the Nokia 6210 and the iPAQ - no worries now as to whether I will drain the battery by heavy IrDa modem use with the Nokia. The Sync Cable now sits permanently in the glove compartment of the car, ready for use when traveling or in the office. Well done to Belkin for producing a truly useful Pocket PC accessory."

Quote: "If you play a lot of first-person shooting games, there are a lot of keyboard combinations that can be awkward. With the strange-looking Nostromo n50 SpeedPad, you can use the keyboard to move with your left hand while using a regular mouse with your right hand. The SpeedPad comes with many preloaded key combinations for the most popular games, and you can download more from Belkin's Web site. This was especially cool for a laptop that has arrow keys on the right side. The n50 connects via a USB port, so make sure you've got an extra one."

Nostromo n50 SpeedPad - Quote: "Installation went fairly smooth (and) you will find that you can easily and quickly adapt to using this device between all types of games… Overall…it is a well made device, unlike my SideWinder Dual Strike controller…Belkin's entry into the game controller market is off to an excellent start with the n50 SpeedPad. Any person who has been looking for an excuse to bury their keyboard while gaming, is in for a solid treat with this controller. Well-designed, easy-to-use, and a welcome addition to the desktop. n50 SpeedPad - Quote: "For a first effort at producing game controllers, Belkin has done a superb job. The n45 Gamepad isn't particularly unique or innovative, but it's competent, full-featured, comfortable, and very affordable. The n50 Speedpad, on the other hand, is all the above and it's innovative. I highly recommend heading to CompUSA and talking someone into hooking one up to a PC. Belkin's Nostromo n30 GameMouse…The smooth, ergonomic shape and pain-free feel is what makes this mouse so much better than every other mouse out there. My old Logitech mouse always made my right hand sore after using it, even if it was only for a short time. So I'd switch hands and before I knew it, my left hand would hurt. Nostromo p45 GamePad - Quote: "I have to admit that the Nostromo p45's charcoal industrial design is a very, very attractive alternative. It has an understated appearance in that it looks like a simple black controller at first glance, but a closer inspection shows the clever way that a basic rectangular control box has been retrofitted with ergonomic attachments. The front triggers have been turned into sculptured supports and the start button has been kissed with a red accent. The option to create and use macros will have you tweaking and improving the controller's use for some time… At the end of it all, the Nostromo n50 SpeedPad is now firmly part of my desktop arsenal and if Belkin wants it back they're gonna have to come and take it… Adaptable, adjustable, smart and reasonably priced is just what we needed to see in any attempt to push the keyboard aside and the Nostromo n50 is all that. Fraggers...we have a winner!"

Nostromo N50 Speedpad - Quote: "I was very impressed with the Nostromo n50 SpeedPad. It has a robust and stable set of drivers and management utilities to assist the player in mapping the keys for his or her favorite game, combined with a highly ergonomic design. Mix the Nostromo in with your favorite right-handed input device, such as a mouse or joystick, and you can nearly eliminate the need for a keyboard in all but the most demanding of games… With a very reasonable price, solid operation, wide support for multiple genres, a lifetime warranty, and flexibility in mapping a wide range of functions, the Nostromo is one tough controller to beat."

Nostromo n30 GameMouse and n50 SpeedPad - Quote: "a more comfortable design with a familiar button layout gives the N30/N50 setup a bit more appeal than the GM2. Plus, this baby has a sleek, stylish, futuristic motif because 'you never get a second chance to make a first impression.' This thing looks way cool. The N30/N50 combo is built to make first-person shooting games easier, with all the essential buttons at your fingertips plus a couple extras that the lab guys at Belkin thought would be of help…The N30 comes equipped with the standard left and right mouse buttons as well as a scroll wheel. But Belkin went one better and included a right thumb button like that found on the Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer. This works great for actions like quickly dropping weapons in Counter-Strike or as a 'back' button while browsing the Internet. Pretty handy…fans who want to rid themselves of all those unnecessary keyboard buttons will find the Nostromo N50 Speedpad very appealing…This is a great peripheral setup… this is a great gaming solution for the keyboard-challenged gamer. Belkin is offering easier, more precise gameplay in a very familiar format with little to no learning curve."

Nostromo p45 GamePad - Quote: "The Nostromo p45 is loaded with features… (It features) precision engineered angles and curves designed for ergonomic comfort and extended game play... The first thing you will notice upon picking up the p45 is how well it fits into your hands. A common complaint among many gamers is the small size of most gamepads. Fortunately, the p45 addresses this issue and you have more than enough space for your hands to breathe. Part of this is thanks to the larger triggers found on the front of the controller. Distinguishing between the 4 triggers is now hassle free. Another innovative feature of the p45 is the silver action stabilizer. This arch found on the end of each handle allows you to steady the controller for extended play. We found this very useful when playing driving games such as GT3. Speaking of driving games, the driving mode option, which is activated by the Mode button, is a very nice feature indeed. It allows you to have precise control and response that is usually lost in gamepads and found on expensive steering wheel kits. The p45 has been strongly built and can withstand quite a bit of shock with no harmful side effects. This gamepad will last you a very long time… The Nostromo p45 is a comfortable and versatile gamepad that comes at a very affordable price. If you are on the market for a gamepad that offers more than just copycat design, the p45 is a solid purchase."

Regulator PRO NetUPS - Quote: "...took up very little space sitting on the floor. It is also comparatively inexpensive… the unit never failed to do its job and was easy to install and use. Its strength was in reliable power and surge protection for 21 minutes. At $449, it is the cheapest 1,000-VA unit in this review. The lab gave it the Bang for the Buck designation."

So is the easiness of installation and use that I'm sure everybody will appreciate…security is one of the most developed features of this little device…(it) has enough power to serve not only a home network but a decent-sized corporate network as well…(the) Belkin 4-Port Cable/DSL Gateway Router proved to be reliable, sturdy, good looking and, maybe even more important for the SOHO market, one of the least expensive devices of its kind."

FireWire 6-port Hub - Quote: "When compared to the first-generation 1394 hub from SIIG, the Belkin 1394 hub is a sight for sore eyes. Someone at Belkin had their milk and cookies that day when they were sketching its design - its curvy sides reflect far more than pure beauty; there's a significant amount of functionality integrated into this splendid device…Although one may think that it may become top-heavy or unstable when connecting numerous rigid 1394 cables, the truth is that cable management is this hub's best feature. All of its cables and ports point to the back and angle down. A removable 'connector bay cover', as Belkin calls it, helps to guide and cluster the cables, and hides some of the 'mess'….In the words of Bart Simpson, "Cool!"

2-Port SOHO Series KVM Switch - Quote: ""(The 2-Port SOHO KVM Switch) is a radical departure from more traditional KVM units. This unit accurately aims at the SOHO or the computer professional who have the need for a KVM… When Belkin designed the F1DS102T, they chose a unique design that, in my opinion, better addresses the needs of the user than any other KVM units before it. The main reason for the new shape is an advanced cable management strategy, which directs all of the cables out of the back of the unit using a removable cable shroud. The cable shroud snaps in place on the back of the unit in such a way that the cables stay organized, out of the way, and hidden from view. I found this to be a more unique cable solution than any of the other KVM units that we tested, and personally really helpful…The performance of the F1DS102T in our testing was good, and we didn't really find any problems. The F1DS102T produced an excellent picture and had no trouble switching between systems…Overall, I found the F1DS102T to be an excellent product with a very unique and functional design. Belkin has done a good job of adding new, very useful features to the KVM arena with this product. Other companies are going to have to add these new features in order to stay competitive with Belkin"

4-Port Router - Quote: "There are quite a few FireWire hubs on the market and the first question people have is: "does it work?" In a word, yes. The Belkin FireWire 6-Port Hub worked fine with my Titanium PowerBook…Here is where the Belkin gets the jump on the competition. It comes in an attractive silver/gray case that is covered in clear plastic. The included stand allows you to stand the hub up vertically, or you can lay it on its side if you prefer. A clear plastic (or rubber?) footing keeps it in place when lying horizontally. Either way, the unit looks great on your desk, and compliments my Titanium PowerBook perfectly…Let's face it. Hubs aren't very exciting. But if you are going to look at something every day, why not get something that looks good? The Belkin FireWire 6-Port Hub looks good and does the job. What more could you ask for?"

Nostromo n40 and n45 GamePads - Quote: "A decent array of controls, no doubt. All of the buttons have good tactile feedback, and are easily reachable when grasping the controller…Coming from a Gravis Gamepad pro as my everyday pad, the beefs I had with it (Gravis GamePad) was that it's a little too light, and a little too small. The Nostromos improve on both of these, adding a bit of weight and a bit of size. The grip was comfortable (and) in terms of ergonomics, the Nostromo line does well… As a USB pad, installation of these badboys is a snap. No messing with resource allocations on your soundcard, just drop in the CD after you plug in the pad and away you go. Belkin's software is surprisingly good for a first attempt. No long-ass intro movie required to just install the drivers… the first time I used the Nostromo, I broke my all-time high score. The D-Pad is much more precise than the gravis ones, and the stick on the n45 is even better…As for the other games, well the pads performed great. Buttons register properly, pads are accurate, and the sticks are smooth and comfortable…So, at a price of 19.99 for the n40 and 24.99 for the n45, I can safely say you're getting your money's worth in the Nostromo line. Lots of buttons, great software, a few nice extras and no dough wasted on gimmicky "features".

Network 8-port Switch - Quote: "If you look at the selection of switches available at your local computer store, you'll find that most share a common appearance of being too boxy-looking. That's why Belkin launched their new line of network switches: to provide top-performance and good reliability for your network, yet at the same time, make it so that the product has an elegant and modern appearance… Belkin also included a user's manual and, surprisingly, an installation CD with their 8-port switch. The manual was very well written and goes into the process of setting up the switch and also the process of setting up the network settings in Windows. This, I think, can be very useful to the novice network administrator… Performance of the switch was very good. Data transfers for everything from files to printer queues were very quick…The Belkin 8-port and 5-port switches are very unique network switches. The combination of unconventional looks and great performance makes this an excellent network switch for the home or small office."

Nostromo n50 SpeedPad - Quote: "By the Gods has Belkin come up with an amazing looking product… I was watching an episode of Extended Play this afternoon. I was ready to turn the tv off, and go play some computer games when I saw the Nostronomo n50 SpeedPad. I instantly sat down, and waited through the hog-wash commercials to see this glorious looking piece of machinery. Well, I'm glad that I did. This futuristic "game-pad" has around ten bindable keys, a scrollwheel, and a D-Pad. Yes, a D-Pad!! For those of you who can do math, with an average mouse (and this controller) you can now have TWO SCROLL-WHEELS! Imagine, TWO!"

Regulator Pro™ Gold Series-USB - Quote:"With an unlimited dollar connected equipment warranty, which is one of, if not, the best offer in the industry--especially for a product that is only about $180 USD in initial investment, the Belkin 650VA Regulator Pro Gold USB is built to protect your equipment from the harms of power failures, surges and more. Plus, with the help of a USB connection to the computer instead of the aging serial, installation and maintenance becomes a cinch-although, the USB connection also prevents the Regulator Pro Gold USB from being installed on certain hardware and software configurations as well. The included monitoring software, Belkin Sentry BullDog, is a very flexible piece of software allowing the user to customize actions and alerts to however they wish them to be. The Belkin 650VA Regulator Pro Gold USB is an excellent choice for anyone looking to protect their equipment-which should be everyone."

Regulator Pro Gold Series UPS - Quote: "Brownouts, blackouts, surges, sags and spikes-that's what your office equipment can look forward to for the rest of the year. Surge suppressors alone won't cut it for mission-critical PC data; you need a true uninterruptible power supply like the Regulator PRO Gold. It not only smoothes out jolts, but also increases the juice to acceptable levels during under-voltage episodes. A backup battery automatically kicks in during a true catastrophe-say, when the lights go out then on again (nothing is as destructive to a hard drive)-giving you up to 45 minutes to safely shut down attached equipment. A fast USB connection to Regulator PRO Gold's management software on your PC saves scarce serial ports."
