Belkin teams with iiNet for VoIP Service

Belkin provides VoIP products for new premium grade iinetphone service

 

(West Gosford, NSW) – August 29, 2005 – Belkin, the global leader in connectivity solutions, today announced a new line of VoIP products developed for leading Australian Internet Service Provider, iiNet Ltd, as part of iinetphone, the first wide-scale national offering of VoIP by an Australian telecommunications company.

 

A major coup for Belkin, the new VoIP products are the first to market with a combined ADSL2+ modem/VoIP (IAD) and represent over three months of intensive research and development by a joint Belkin/iiNet team to ensure true interoperability with the iiNet network

iiNet’s VoIP offering will feature four Belkin products including a 4-port wireless ADSL2+ modem/router with VoIP, 4-port ADSL2+ modem/router with VoIP, 1-port ADSL2+ modem and an ATA VoIP phone adapter.

 

“When selecting our VoIP hardware vendor we reviewed products from numerous suppliers, and conducted extensive research and trials,” said Stephen Harley, Sr. Product Manager, iiNet.  “Belkin was the supplier of choice as it met our specific requirements to provide a pre-configured, easy-to-install, combination ADSL2+/VoIP unit that will enhance our customers’ VoIP experience.”

 

Each 4-port modem includes a clever ‘fail safe’ feature that allows consumers to make a call over a traditional analogue phone line, even in the event of a power supply or DSL connectivity failure.

 

All products also include a two-year warranty.
