New FireWire 6-Port Hub from Belkin Offers Repeater Capability

(Compton, CA) - June 11, 2003 - Belkin International, Inc., the leading manufacturer of connectivity solutions, today introduced its compact FireWire 6-Port Hub (F5U526 - ESP $49.95), offering six, peer-to-peer FireWire ports to connect seamlessly with FireWire devices while also acting as a FireWire repeater. The Hub will be available in North America on June 27, 2003.

With a data throughput of up to 400Mbps, users may connect FireWire webcams, FireWire storage devices, scanners, printers, FireWire DV camcorders, and other DV-compatible multimedia devices to the Hub. As a FireWire repeater, users can place devices up to an additional 15 feet from other connected FireWire peripherals to extend the distance from the computer to the device. Connecting peripherals to the Hub using 6-pin to 6-pin FireWire cables enables them to draw power from the Hub, for easier setup and operation.
