Melody may not have known much about the technology industry when she first joined Belkin, but she quickly learned everything she could about Belkin’s array of products, and makes sure she’s always on top of what’s next in the pipeline. Over the last six years, Melody has worked to create solid relationships with media outlets, and has helped build the Belkin brand along the way. She set her sights on getting coverage in more than just niche publications, and her efforts have paid off. Belkin’s solutions have been featured in a range of national glossies, including Newsweek, GQ, Maxim, and Redbook.
“It’s a great field to be in and a great place to work. We operate like a smaller company in the sense that if I have a great idea for something new, I can stop at my manager’s or a senior vice president’s office and they’re always available to talk,” says Melody. “Belkin really embraces new ideas. You hear a lot of talk about entrepreneurialism at some companies, but here it really is true.”
Melody has gotten the chance to represent Belkin at industry events in cities around the world, but her favorite Belkin moment came when The Wall Street Journal’s world-renowned tech guru, Walt Mossberg, wrote about Belkin’s Wireless Pre-N Router in his weekly column. “It was a great review and on top of that, the column came out during the annual Consumer Electronics Show,” she recalls. “That was big. I thought, ‘I can retire now.’”
Lucky for Belkin, she’s just kidding… we hope.
