VJ knows that if he wasn’t working on consumer products, he wouldn’t be satisfied.
“It’s fulfilling to be designing products that most people can afford and can use
to make their lives better,” he says. “I’m designing products that I actually end
up using in my own daily life, too.”
VJ is responsible for managing the mechanical-engineering team and overseeing the
engineering of every product—in every category—that comes through Belkin’s Innovation
Design Group. He’s charged with making sure each product is engineered to meet an
array of goals, from marketing to industrial design. His responsibilities don’t
end once a product makes it to the manufacturing cycle.
“We get to interact closely with the manufacturers and manufacturing engineers on
the production line, making sure our design intent is carried out completely and
that there are no compromises before the product hits the store shelves,” explains
VJ. “I like being involved in the entire process.”
The diversity of products at Belkin makes VJ’s job exciting and challenging at the
same time.
“I really find that variety interesting. Every project is unique, so it always keeps
you on your toes,” says VJ. “Belkin believes in what you can do and gives you the
tools to do it, to execute your vision. There’s freedom here.”
